CFVG MBA has been granted EPAS international accreditation
PRESS RELEASE
International Accreditation – The mark of excellence
During its meeting on 23 April 28, 2008, the EPAS Accreditation Board voted to grant EPAS Accreditation on CFVG for its MASTER IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION. CFVG’s MBA is now the first program in Vietnam listed among the prestigious international MBAs.
After CFVG accomplished an intensive self assessment, an EPAS programme quality visit was conducted on 21st, 22nd & 23rd of January 2008 at CFVG. During these field visits, The Peer Review Team spoke with the board of director, the management team, students, alumni, staff and faculty in order to obtain a proper view about the CFVG MBA program’s quality.
Basically, the quality of a programme is evaluated on three main aspects: the quality of the selection process, which means the quality of the students, the quality of the programme design and delivery, the research activity of the faculty, the quality of placement of graduates. EPAS accreditation also particularly emphasizes on the corporate connections and the internationalization of the programme.
Being asked about the prospect of international accreditation for Vietnamese education, Pr.Dr. Jerome BON – CFVG General Director – said: “There is still a lot of progress to be made on most of these items in Vietnam and the accreditation of CFVG was made possible because it is a french-vietnamese programme with its own independent national selection, designed in conformity with international standards with more than 60% of the courses delivered by qualified European faculty, a number of possibility to study in France and also because it has already a long history of 15 years with a large network of 1200 successful alumni. Although it is a tough process it is a very useful way to learn about necessary improvement and even if some institutions are not in a position to obtain an international accreditation, it is a good exercise to figure out what should be done to have a chance of obtaining such an accreditation”
The accreditation will bring great benefit to CFVG’s students, CFVG itself and the society as a whole. CFVG students benefits from the improved quality and credibility of the institution, especially when they are working in an international environment. For CFVG’s part, in addition to an increased credibility, it’s a good access to a very useful analysis by the peer review team of the improvements to implement and a good guidance for strategic developments. This is very important to establish partnerships with top foreign Business Schools which will often consider partnerships only with accredited schools. Concerning the society, accreditation stimulates competition on quality rather than only on communication, this competition focus on improvements on the selection, course design, course monitoring, research ....and globally contributes to a better learning efficiency. It creates the conditions to develop a virtuous competition.
There are three international management programmes accreditation bodies: EFMD (EQUIS and EPAS), AACSB and AMBA. Although the process is not exactly the same there are a number of similarities. The originality of Epas is the importance given to the internationalisation of the programme (design, % of international professors, student body, possibilities to study abroad). There are also national accreditation systems which are very important in many countries.
“With the MBA being accredited, we will think of having all the programmes of CFVG granted French or International accreditation and this is part of our strategy to develop international education standards in Vietnam. Epas accreditation does not change the identity and focus of CFVG, it is just reinforcing the image of quality, to some extent it is a proof of that the quality and international focus of CFVG is externally recognized. We hope that the success of CFVG being the first Vietnamese degree in management to be granted an international accreditation will help other programmes to develop international quality and hopefully be accredited in the future” said Pr. Dr. Jerome BON – CFVG General Director.
