This workshop will present the creation of value and motives behind mergers and acquisitions. First, we present alternative hypotheses to explain why the company starts get committed despite the destruction of value in a merger or acquisition. However, through the example of operation from Mittal Steel to Arcelor SA, we highlight that some operations that are beneficial to the shareholders of both target and initiating companies. 

This will lead us to the question about the determinants of value creation in mergers and acquisitions.
