At the opening session, Dr. Chevalier delivered an speech on the prospects of financial industry with regards to the international perspectives and Vietnamese context. “As we look to the future of the financial industry, banks are now well positioned to rediscover the position of trust and confidence as responsible agents of financial inter mediation and facilitators of international trade and investment. While the industry may have been slow to see the evolving promising future of finance it has embarked on a transformative journey in re-examining long-held conventions and established business practices to address the challenges of the time. This is the same crossroads our host country, Vietnam, stands on right now. As Vietnam emerges from a history of inward-looking policies, Vietnam is poised to engage with its neighbors as a major player not only in the Southeast Asian region, but in the entire Asia Pacific. A recent signatory to the Trans-Pacific Partnership and member of the ASEAN Economic Community, Vietnam is on a committed path to global and regional economic integration. The country, through its prudent structural reforms, is already a hub of financial investment, trade inflows, supply-chain networks, and infrastructure development within the region. With 30 million citizens under 30 years of age, this is a country immensely capable of great adaptation, creativity, and productivity in the decades ahead.” said Prof. Dr. Alain Chevalier during his address.
